Ingredient Selection & Preparation
The bakery first selects fresh ingredients such as flour, sugar, eggs, butter, milk, baking powder, cocoa, vanilla, fruits, and other required ingredients.
Measuring the Ingredients
All ingredients are measured accurately according to the cake recipe. Precise measurements help maintain the right taste, texture, and consistency.
Preparing the Batter
Butter and sugar are mixed until light and creamy. Eggs are added gradually, followed by ingredients such as vanilla or other flavors. Dry ingredients like flour and baking powder are then mixed in with milk or other liquids to create a smooth batter.
Preparing the Cake Pans
Cake pans are cleaned, greased with butter or oil, and sometimes lined with parchment paper to prevent the cake from sticking.
Baking the Cake
The filled pans are placed inside a preheated commercial oven. The cake is baked at the required temperature and for the appropriate amount of time.
Cooling the Cake
After baking, the cakes are removed from the oven and allowed to cool. They are usually transferred to cooling racks so air can circulate around them.
Removing & Leveling
Once completely cool, the cake is carefully removed from the pan. The top may be trimmed or leveled to create an even surface for decorating.
Preparing the Filling
Depending on the cake, fillings such as buttercream, whipped cream, chocolate ganache, fruit filling, or other creams are prepared.
Layering the Cake
For a layered cake, the sponge is cut into even layers. Filling is spread between each layer before stacking them carefully.
Crumb Coating
A thin layer of frosting is applied around the cake to trap loose crumbs and create a smooth base for the final decoration. The cake may then be chilled.
Final Frosting
A thicker layer of frosting or cream is applied to the cake. Bakers use spatulas and other tools to create a smooth or decorative finish.
Cake Decoration
The cake is decorated according to the design. This can include piping, chocolate decorations, fruits, nuts, sprinkles, edible flowers, or customized designs.
Packaging
The cake is carefully placed in a suitable cake box. The packaging protects the cake from damage during storage and transportation.
